International Value Education Olympiad 2022

 

Middle school student Raghav Krishna Seshadri Sumanth took home the second place trophy at the International Value Education Olympiad 2022, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change of the Central Government of India and held at the Govardhan Eco Village (GEV) in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, as part of the United Nations Environment Program's (UNEP) Faith for Earth initiative in India. 252,000 students from India and other Indian students from 20 other countries participated in this tournament focus of the competition was on six values (Altruism, Trustworthiness, Equity, Justice, Integrity, and Honesty). Raghav is the first individual from outside of India to have won in both categories, taking home second place in the Middle School (grades 5-8) division. Divya Datt, a program manager at UNEP, and His Excellency Sri Bhupendra Yadav, the Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, India, respectively, presented Raghav with a diploma and reward during the gala felicitation ceremony on January 29, 2023, in New Delhi. The Young Philanthropist donated the prize money, Rs. 15000/- to ISKCON.
